Your journey begins in Colombo, where colonial architecture, bustling markets, and oceanfront promenades introduce you to Sri Lanka’s lively capital. Travel along the southern coast to historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO-listed fortress town surrounded by old walls, charming streets, and sweeping sea views.
Wildlife experiences are a major highlight of the tour. Enjoy an exciting safari in Yala National Park, one of the best places in Asia to spot elusive leopards, elephants, and many other animals in their natural habitat.
The adventure continues through Sri Lanka’s beautiful hill country, with visits to Ella for scenic hikes and famous landmarks such as Nine Arch Bridge and Ravana Waterfall. A breathtaking train ride through tea plantations leads to the cultural heart of Kandy, home to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic and vibrant traditional dance performances.

Your tour leader will meet you at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Colombo. Depending on your arrival time, there may be an opportunity to explore some of the city’s major attractions and experience the vibrant atmosphere of Sri Lanka’s capital.
During the city tour you may visit Galle Face Green for ocean views, Independence Memorial Hall for historical insight, Gangaramaya Temple to observe local religious life, and the lively Pettah Market filled with colorful street vendors and colonial architecture.

After breakfast, travel south along the coast toward Weligama or Mirissa. On the way you will stop at a turtle hatchery to learn about local conservation efforts protecting endangered sea turtles.
Later you will take a relaxing boat ride through the mangroves of the Madu River where you can observe wildlife and learn about the traditional cinnamon cultivation in the area. In the afternoon explore the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visit the iconic lighthouse overlooking the Indian Ocean.

After breakfast, travel toward Yala and prepare for an exciting wildlife experience. In the afternoon you will enter Yala National Park in a 4x4 safari jeep to search for animals including leopards, elephants, spotted deer, and many species of birds.
The park features diverse landscapes ranging from grasslands and lagoons to dense forest, making it one of the best wildlife reserves in Sri Lanka.

After breakfast travel toward Ella in the hill country. Along the journey stop at the beautiful Ravana Waterfall for photographs and short exploration.
In Ella you will visit the famous Nine Arch Bridge surrounded by lush green hills. Later enjoy a moderate hike to Little Adam’s Peak which offers spectacular 360-degree views across the Ella Gap and surrounding mountains.

This morning you will board one of the most scenic train rides in the world, traveling from Ella to Nanu Oya through misty mountains, tea plantations and forest valleys.
After arriving you will visit a tea plantation and factory to learn how famous Ceylon tea is produced and enjoy tasting different varieties. In the evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy and attend a traditional Kandyan cultural dance performance.

After breakfast travel north toward Sigiriya with cultural stops along the route. Visit a gem museum to learn about Sri Lanka’s famous sapphires and traditional gem cutting craftsmanship.
Continue to the Matale Herbal Garden where guides explain the healing uses of local plants and spices used in Ayurvedic medicine. You may also taste and experience some of the herbal products.

In the morning climb the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress which rises nearly 200 meters above the surrounding jungle. Along the climb you will see ancient frescoes and the remains of a royal palace at the summit offering panoramic views across the landscape.
Later enjoy a cultural village experience including a bullock cart ride, canoe trip across a lake, and a traditional lunch served on lotus leaves at a farmer’s house. In the afternoon go on a safari in Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park to see elephants and other wildlife.

Depending on your departure time you may have the option to wake early for a sunrise climb of Pidurangala Rock, offering spectacular views of Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
After breakfast visit the Royal Cave Temple in Dambulla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring ancient cave shrines filled with Buddha statues and historic frescoes. Afterwards transfer to Colombo airport or return to your hotel in Colombo or Negombo if you are extending your stay.
