Begin with a visit to the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage before exploring the sacred Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. Continue into the cool tea country landscapes of Nuwara Eliya, where you’ll visit tea plantations and enjoy the relaxed colonial charm of the town.
One of the highlights of the journey is the scenic train ride through Sri Lanka’s hill country to Ella, passing lush tea estates and misty mountains. In Ella, explore famous landmarks like Little Adam’s Peak and the iconic Nine Arches Bridge before continuing south.
Your adventure then moves to the wildlife-rich landscapes of Yala National Park for an exciting jeep safari where elephants, birds, and other wildlife can be spotted. Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport where your driver will meet you and begin the journey to Kandy. On the way, stop at the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where you can observe baby elephants being bottle-fed and watch the herd during their bathing time.

After breakfast, begin the day with a city tour of Kandy including a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka.
Later, drive through the scenic hill country toward Nuwara Eliya. On the way, stop at the Labookellie Tea Factory and Plantation to see how world-famous Ceylon tea is produced. In the afternoon, explore Nuwara Eliya town including Gregory Park.

After breakfast, travel south from the hill country to Yala which takes approximately 2.5 hours. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel in Tissamaharama and relax before the safari adventure.
In the afternoon around 3:00 PM, head into Yala National Park on a 4x4 jeep safari. The park is known for elephants, birds, and many other wildlife species.
